Academic Arts Education
JPPS students are exposed to a multitude of educational art projects, including the visual and dramatic arts, dance and music appreciation. Learning ‘in and through’ the arts enhances regular classroom instruction, improves student self-expression, and develops in our students a sense of socio-cultural awareness, of both our Judaic heritage and of the populations surrounding us.
Music is included in all celebrations and contributes to the students’ appreciation and awareness of various musical styles and origins.
Drama & Dance
Drama is woven into the fabric of our Language Arts and Social Studies Program in English, Hebrew, French and Yiddish. Dance is integrated into multicultural studies, creative movement and Jewish holidays and celebrations. Students participate in numerous other activities, among them: class plays in French and English, puppet shows, paper bag dramatics, music concerts and theatre performances within and outside the school.
The JPPS Choir
The JPPS Choir, led by Elena Khitrin is legendary. Having entertained audiences in all types of venues, from synagogues to senior homes, our Yiddish Choir is second-to-none. At the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration in 2013, JPPS' choir was the ONLY one to be asked to perform at the prestigious Oscar Peterson Hall in front of many distinguished guests.
