Joanna Yufe Naimer
Joanna Yufe Naimer is an alumna of both JPPS and Bialik (91’). She has been involved in the school in many capacities: Member of the School Board of Directors from 2004-2008, Vice-President of the School Board of Directors from 2009-2011 and Co-Chair of Gala 2009 with her husband Bram Naimer, also a graduate of JPPS ’78. Joanna served many hot lunches and helped on different committees. She is currently the President of the JPPS-Bialik Foundation Board of Directors. Joanna is also involved in Federation CJA. She is on the Women’s Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the Emerging Leaders Outreach Programme and is currently mentoring ATID, a Women’s Leadership Program. Her three children all graduated from JPPS.
Ruth Bensimon Choueke
Ruth Bensimon Choueke has been involved with community philanthropy for many years. She chaired the Choices event as well as Cooking in Heels. Three years ago Ruth chaired Federation CJA’s Connections and two years ago participated in the ATID Program. Ruth is currently Women’s Philanthropy Campaign Chair, and as well, is Second Vice-President at Ometz. Ruth is married to Robert Choueke and is the mother of three children, two Bialik alumni and one who currently attends Bialik.
Dr. Harley Eisman
Dr. Harley Eisman is a native Montrealer who graduated from the UTT-Herzliah School system. He attended Marianopolis College and graduated from McGill Medical School in 1992. Dr. Eisman completed his pediatric training and sub-specialty in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Montreal Children's Hospital, where he is currently Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Dr. Eisman is married to Joanne, an electrical engineer, and they are the proud parents of three children who are part of JPPS-Bialik Family. Dr. Eisman has served on the Board of Directors of JPPS-Bialik, notably as President, during the consolidation to one campus. In response to family tragedy, Harley and Joanne co-founded the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which has raised awareness and supported care and research in the domain.
Francie Sternthal is an alumnai of both JPPS and Bialik (’90) and has been a member of the JPPS-Bialik Foundation Board since 2017. She served on the Board of Directors of Solomon Schechter Academy for six years as co-chair of the Committee on Trustees, as an advisor to the Stephen Lewis Foundation from 2010-2018 and as a deputy campaign director for the 2016 Centraide campaign. Francie currently works as a marketing consultant and has two children, one of whom will be graduating from Bialik in the Class of 2020.
Michael Szirt CPA, CA is a partner at Richter, LLP, where he practices in the Audit group. He is a past Board member of Congregation Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem, and is actively involved in awareness and fundraising for NGO Monitor. An avid runner, Michael is also involved in raising funds for Team Shalva. Michael was a member of the Akiva Players where he performed alongside his children in three productions. Michael is married to Leslie Fenster-Szirt ’88, and they are the parents of three children; their youngest currently attends Bialik.
Shoula Cohen has over twenty years of experience in the e-commerce solutions industry. Her expertise is rooted in the areas of finance and management. Shoula is a graduate of McGill University, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Since 2010, Shoula has served as the Treasurer of Mada Community Center. Shoula has three children: Zachary, Sarah, who graduated from Bialik in 2019 and David '22, currently in Secondary III. Shoula is looking forward to bringing her vast array of skills and knowledge to the Foundation Board.
Lee Wise is currently serving as President of the JPPS-Bialik Board of Directors. During his many years on the School Board, Lee served as Vice-President, Chair of the Tuition Assistance Committee, Chair of the House Committee and Chair of the Fundraising & Advancement Committee. Lee spearheaded two major projects for the school - the sale of the Van Horne property with the ensuing renovation of the Bialik Campus, as well as the fundraising, design and construction of Project Fit, the school’s artificial turf, soccer field and outdoor basketball court. Lee owns Arbell Electronics, Canada’s leading distributor of production supplies and equipment for the electronics manufacturing industry. He is a proud graduate of the Bialik Class of '85 and is married to fellow classmate Beth Tannenbaum, who he reconnected with at their ten-year high school reunion. They have two children at JPPS-Bialik.
