IB Programme
Bialik is the only Jewish high school in Montreal accredited as a World International Baccalaureate® (IB) School offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Secondary I through V.
At Bialik, we guide our students towards developing essential life-long skills, including critical thinking, inquiry, independence, collaborative work, research skills, communication, enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to local and global citizenship.
IB MYP
The IB MYP framework is consistent with the mission and vision of JPPS-Bialik and is integrated with the goals of the MEQ mandated curriculum as well as the Bialik Judaic Studies curriculum.
As students learn in the context of the MYP framework, they deepen their proficiency in intellectual activities such as analytical thought, oral and written communication, scientific investigation, creative expression, and problem-solving.
Our faculty contextualize learning so that students can make connections between their studies and the world in which they live. In IB MYP there are six Global Contexts into which the learning is grouped:
- Identities and Relationships
- Personal and Cultural Expression
- Orientations in Space and Time
- Scientific and technical innovation
- Fairness and Development
- Globalization and Sustainability

Personal Project
Integral to the Middle Years Programme is a Personal Project in which Secondary 5 students apply their learning in a long-term independent, self-directed study in a topic of their choice.
Bialik students graduate from high school fully prepared for post-secondary education and ready to be productive members and leaders in their local and wider communities.
