HISTORY
The National Radical School opens its doors. A group of intellectuals, mostly immigrants from Eastern Europe, made a commitment to organize a progressive educational system that would link the Jewish child with its traditions and language. The goal: an excellent, modern education which simultaneously presents the Jewish cultural heritage in a creative manner, thus ensuring Jewish survival and continuity in the new land.
A splinter group called Yiddishe Folks Shulen, or the Jewish People’s School, separates itself from The National Radical School.
The National Radical School becomes the Jewish Peretz School.
The Jewish People’s School organizes the first Jewish day school in Montreal.
The Jewish People School moves into a new building on Waverly Street. Prior to this, they used rented homes.
The first stage of Jewish People’s Schools building on Van Horne Avenue is built.
Jewish People's School pupils move to the Van Horne building.
Jewish Peretz School pupils move to the building on Wavell Street.
Jewish People’s School and Jewish Peretz School merge, forming JPPS-Jewish People’s School and Peretz School.
Bialik High School becomes a reality thanks to the merger of the two schools.
Bialik moves into a new building on Kildare Avenue in Côte Saint-Luc.
All the students in the building on Wavell Street move to the Van Horne campus.
JPPS and Bialik merge. JPPS moves into the building on Kildare.
